“NY1 Becomes a Prime-Time Anchor in the Tumult of the Storm”

Two hurricanes have made landfall in New York City on my watch: Irene in 2011 and Sandy in 2012. The night Sandy hit, I was the Executive Producer on duty at NY1. We did eight hours of live wall-to-wall coverage. As usual, our goal was to tell the story as accurately and comprehensively as possible — just the facts, without hyperbole.

Even as the enormity of the situation became apparent to all of us, my team and I — in the field, in the control room, and on the anchor desk — did our best to tell the story calmly and professionally. I’m fiercely proud of what we accomplished that night, and the Times’ article praising our coverage was gratifying to read.
